- Daily watering is mandatory for the new Sod.
- Rain is often not enough for daily watering. Only a precipitation of more than 15mm is enough.
- A minimum of 30 to 40 minutes per zone when an irrigation system is present.
- For manual watering, water for 40 minutes (per section)
- Watering is mandatory until October or till temperatures hit 10⁰C or lower
- For a sod installed in autumn, watering is mandatory for the next season until the end of August.
- To check if the lawn is watered enough, lift a corner of the lawn; if the soil is soaked, it’s perfect. Otherwise continue watering this area.
- Often below the trees, it is necessary to water longer (the trees drink this water too)
- Watering in the morning before the sun is better, not to have a problem with fungus or mold.
- 2-3 weeks after the installation of the new sod, you must cut the grass to a height of 3.5 inches (highest height of the mower). After fist cut, you can reduce to 2.5 inches. In the fall and spring (temperature below 20⁰C), you can reduce the height to 2 inches.
- Always remove dead leaves from the fall or shred them.
- For the following seasons, a program of fertilization and control of grubs is mandatory.
- With a lawn service, there would be a better chance of having a beautiful lawn and a protect investment.
